As for the extra content, I think they are talking about the online content that HDDVD players get via downloads, all HDDVD players include internet connections and the Disks have online content included on them, Transformers had this and it is expected to get really big over the next few months. I personally dont think it will help sales much at all.
There is nothing wrong with looking at gaming from an adult and serious point of view, I for one own stock in M$ so this matters to me as much as the next big game release.
All those sites you mentioned loved the PS2, give plenty of credit to PS3, regularly bash the X360, and pretty much are the only big independent sites.

Pushing that crap, PS3 outsold the 360 in the rest of the world last week and the week before that, that is it, all the weeks prior to that the 360 was outselling the PS3 2 to 1 in Europe, at least according to VGcharts, go look it up. If PS3 is killing 360 so bad in the rest of the world how come it has not even come close to catching up to 360 in total sales in Europe? DO NOT beleev that PS3 is kiking 360s @ss everywhere else in the world crap.
PS3 is getting the snot kicked out of it in sales, it is being whipped like 5 to 1 !!! this is insane, there is no way I would buy a PS3 right now, the future of that console is so uncertain. hey don't worry about it, Sony can take care of themselves, and as long as those titles you mentioned are still on PS3, why should you care.
Im sorry to be the one to tell you this but, there is only going to be one sku when the smoke clears, and that is the 40GB unit. Sony has to save money, they are in a lot of trouble right now, the best way to save is to have one sku, just like in Europe.
